Roger Hutton has been involved in the construction industry since leaving school in 1985. After completing a Higher National Diploma in Building at Southampton Institute of Higher Education he progressed to becoming a Chartered Surveyor and full Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1991.
During his years in the construction industry Roger has principally worked as a PQS and is experienced in both ‘pre and post’ contract duties, although his main specialism is pre contract measurement and preparation of bills of quantities. In addition to the foregoing Roger spent a short spell in the insurance industry working as a ‘Building Claims Surveyor’ where additional experience and knowledge was gained in refurbishment, restoration and structural repairs of various types of buildings and civil engineering works.
Roger has extensive experience of public and private sector construction projects, both new build and refurbishment. He has an in depth knowledge of all forms of construction which is particularly useful in contributing towards solving design issues in a sensible, economic and practical way. As a Director of Wilson Hutton Associates Limited he takes personal responsibility for projects, leading a dedicated measurement team and acting as the main point of contact for the client on all matters. His wide project experience ensures that he is able to bring a wealth of practical knowledge to every scheme.

Senior Quantity Surveyor
Peter Beasley joined Wilson Hutton Associates Limited in 2001. Previously he worked for a multi-disciplinary Architectural/Quantity Surveying practice, a construction firm serving the retail petrol industry, a National development company specialising in retirement/care homes and has also spent several years as a freelance surveyor. Peter has an extensive knowledge of structures and modern design techniques and the ability to interpret incomplete or sketchy design information.
Senior Quantity Surveyor
Simon has twenty five years experience of both pre and post contract quantity surveying duties working with Wilson Hutton Associates Limited since 2001. He holds a BSc with Honours in Quantity Surveying from Portsmouth Polytechnic and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and full Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Shelley joined Wilson Hutton Associates in August 2015 and has over 10 years’ experience as an administrator.
Shelley’s main role within the practice is to manage / process information received for each project ready for the surveyors to measure, provide administration support to the Wilson Hutton team and assist with initial bill production processes such as producing schedules and measuring items using our computer software.
Paul previously worked in the electronics and IT industry in various fields for nearly 30 years. After leaving Poole Technical College with an HNC in Electronics in 1989 he worked for Zellweger Uster GmbH in the gas detection field. Paul also has experience partnering a radio repair and installation business and working in Radio and Telephony within a Fire and Rescue Service.
After 18 years in the electronics field Paul decided to move into Computers and IT and after working for himself for many years building and repairing computers was offered employment at Wilson Hutton Associates Limited in 2006, in addition to the foregoing Paul also works as a retained fire fighter.
Pauls main role within the practice is with our initial bill production process in particular ‘background work’ in scheduling areas and girths using specialist computer software. This information is then made available for use by the rest of the team during the further bill measurement process. Paul has also developed an excellent knowledge of ‘site and external works’ and in particular accurate calculation of bulk ‘cut and fill’ quantities using our computer software.
Ben joined Wilson Hutton Associates in April 2015. This is Ben’s first full-time employment, having previously worked part-time at a supermarket and also as a supervisor at a café. He joined us initially to gain some office experience and an insight into the construction industry. During his first year with us Ben’s duties have been in undertaking preliminary work at the early stages of a project prior to measurement and preparation of bills by the remainder of the team. Ben is now looking into progressing with a career in the construction industry and will be starting college on a day release basis later this year on an HNC Building course to extend his knowledge further.
